what about (Asterisk)freepbx?
January 21, 2008 at 5:26 pm

January 21, 2008 at 6:53 pm
is there any sip provider that doesnt charge you anything?
January 21, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Does anyone have the settings for sipgate.de?
January 21, 2008 at 9:38 pm
@loic: sounds strange, pls check first with tsafari, if you have a wifi connection active, then pls double-check the SIP settings, and finally be sure that it is connected, and you use
a valid nr.
@Rafique, mike: we need the response form the others.. let’s see
January 21, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Gizmo will give you 25¢ free time to test (while waiting for your microphone to ship) when you register, thing is I had it working no problem in V 1.0, I upgraded to v 1.1 this morning and now I can’t get it to call?!
January 22, 2008 at 3:23 am
@Nic:
Skype is not SIP, you will not be able to use Skype for this.
@kevin:
Much like how someone at your household must pay for internet (usually around $30 to $50 a month for broadband), these service providers need to pay for even bigger internet connections to sustain the service… and guess who’s paying for it? Yes, customers.
At 2 cents a minute, there’s no reason to cheap out. No, really.
@Touchmods:
I belive I’ve found the issue reported by loic. If your iPod / iPhone for whatever reason cannot resolve the SIP-Server, it will do that. I noticed this when I’m debugging my issue with sipphone/Gizmo. For some reason, my iPod cannot resolve proxy01.sipphone.com to its respective IP address, and it does that. Once I ping the CNAME from my computer (so my router resolved and cached it), my iPod was able to resolve it, and connect to that no problem. And the clicking hang up with nothing happening problem went away.
@Bog:
They only gave me 10 cents… >_<
I had similar problem, but I was able to resolve it using the above procedures, but then it sounded awaful: http://misc.chiisana.net/iPodTouch/sipvoip-session_recorded.mp3
I’m not sure what’s causing this though…

can you screenshot the settings end send it to mai[at]tunev.org? i tried many combination, with nat on or off, with or without stun domain, with port 10000 and without, and with sipgate.de or sipgate:5060 … i cant help it, i dont understand why it isnt working for me
January 24, 2008 at 2:09 pm
@ frankmen / philosophos
I have the same problem with sipgate.de .
January 24, 2008 at 2:23 pm
@ philosophos
Cliff

January 24, 2008 at 4:09 pm
i’m now aware of the matter: i use the fritz box phone 7270 and it is using the port 5060 for their own voip service or something else, so it dont like other devices in the local network using this port. is there any possibility to change the port in the software? the supportteam of sipgate.de told me that from their site it would not be a problem using another port but the application must support it. using the stun server should also avoid these matter by automaticly choosing another unused port but for some unknown reason this fails either.
please, if anyone has an idea, let me know! thx

Finally found and setup BT Broadband Talk and got the settings
Go to https://service.btbroadbandvoice.bt.com … umerConfig
Enter your Broadband Talk phone number (without any leading 44’s) and the password in your Welcome email.
On the following screen, click Configure Router/Hub. Another window will pop up. Right click on the Configure button and choose ‘Copy Link Location’ (Firefox) or similar in your browser. Paste this into a text file.
This will contain one long line of SIP configuration items, but crucially it includes your actual SIP password for Broadband Talk.
Look for the entry &SIPPassword1= and copy all the following characters until the next & sign. Mine is 18 characters.
Save this information somewhere safe!
Where 441234567890 is shown you would type your BBT number, minus the first 0 and preceded with 44.
Sippassword1 is the password from the first step

sipgate.de works fine with these settings:
USER ID ( not your login for the website)
PASS (both is given in the internal area )
SIP-Server: sipgate.de
Reg. Timeout: 0 - 12000
NAT/STUN and STUN-Server is optional!!!
it does not work correctly to connect to sipgate via ipod.
you have to be “Online” in the internal area to receive calls from outside!
It does not work yet! Need a newer VOIP-SIP software, which connect with the STUN-SERVER and PROXY correctly!
so we’ll wait

Chiny, would you be kind enough to let us know what settings you are using for Voipfone? Nothing I try seems to work. Even using ZoIPer (Mac voip client) it only works when I enter the proxy settings.
Are you using the Voipfone proxy server through the Touch?
Many thanks

February 9, 2008 at 6:47 pm
HI ENZO!
I can connect with strange voice, but it shoud be due my 3G connection. Any way, for Gizmo you have to:
User name: your user name
Password: your pass
SIP-Server: proxy01.sipphone.com
Reg.Timeout: 1800
Nat?: NO
Stun Domain: do not need to change/type
Stun Server: do not need to change/type

FINALLY!!!
After a lot of registrations, I found out one sip working for me in Tokyo (the company is British).
https://www.voipfone.co.uk
Username: “it’s a number provided from the site”
Pass: “also, a number provided from the site”
SIP : sip.voipfone.co.uk
Reg.Timeout: (blank) or 1800
Enable NAT: NO
NOTE: my gmail account was not accept during the register. Thus, I used a Brazilian mail from http://www.pop.com.br (in portuguese)
February 9, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Chiny,
Thanks for the hint!
February 9, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Sorry, it’s me again. One more hint:
After making one calling, it’s rare to get calling again. Thus, you need to turn off and turn back on the SIP button (under the virtual keyboard). But, after this, wait like 5 or 10 seconds to type your number. This will avoid the numbers you’ve typed to disappear. It may happens due the time to the touch connect to the SIP provider. Of course, it depends on your connection speed. Mine is not so fast, since it’s 3G.
Touchmods, as we discussed before, the 3G was not the problem. Finding the correct SIP provider has fixed the chapped voice.
February 10, 2008 at 4:55 am
Got freecall and it worked but had problems buying more minutes. Signed up for vyke and put all the info in. It shows I’m connected to the sip server but when I dial the number disappears and i get no connection. Any ideas?

When you said you were able to resolve it using the above procedures, which procedures are you referring to.
I ask this because my ipod touch won’t actually make calls using the sip-voip 1.1. everything works up to actually receiving a call on the other end, connection to sip server is good, dial 001 (for canada) then the area code and number, but no ring on the other end, any help or suggestions?!?!
February 12, 2008 at 3:29 pm

You’re right…with Gizmo these following settings work fine:

Password: your pass
SIP-Server: proxy01.sipphone.com
Reg.Timeout: 1800
Nat: NO
Stun Domain: do not need to change/type
Stun Server: do not need to change/type
With VoIPStunt no way…I’m using iPod Touch 1.1.2 firmware and WiFi connection.
February 14, 2008 at 11:15 am
hi there. well, I am trying to connect to sipgate.de. it seems to work but not at once. it needs several minutes to connect. sometimes not and the touch freezes. I am behind a fritz!box 7050 - is this the problem? my stationary phones use voip too, maybe this could cause the problem. if you have any ideas where the problem might be found, please feel free to post. thanxx
February 14, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Hi - my settings are not saving. Any one else seeing the same problem? I have to enter the sip settings each time. After pressing the save button it does say that all settings were saved correctly - but when I go back to the home page and re-load the app - the settings are missing.
February 14, 2008 at 9:05 pm
It´s true… the settings are not saved… I can call with freecall…(the mic is working GOOD!!!) but have to fill out the log-in for every call… perhaps the touchmods-gods could possibly quit that “bug” from the app…?
February 15, 2008 at 3:39 am
Hi Matt!
Strange, I never heard about this. Maybe you must reisntall the sip-voip
February 16, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I’m having a problem previously reported, but I can not resolve it. Hopefully somebody can help. I have a mic, I opened a free call account and I can get the free call software to work on my computer.
When I set up my ipod touch to the following settings:
Username: [freecall username]
Password: [freecall password]
Sip-Server: sip.voiparound.com
Reg. Timeout: 1800
Enable Nat?: Yes
STUN Domain: [nothing entered]
Stun Server: stun.voiparound.com
and try a call, I dial and the number disappears.
I tried and successfully pinged “sip.voiparound.com on my computer, but I still can not successfully make a call with the ipod touch. I’ve rebooted my ipod touch and played with different configuration settings, but nothing works.
Does anybody have an idea as to what I may be doing wrong or a suggestion for troubleshooting my situation?
Thanks in advance! jason

the mic wor5ks great… but the providers (i assume) are killing me!
freecall has a long delay in the conversation, so i dropped them
i tried sipphone (gizmo) here in the states, but it ALWAYS says “the call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number…”
i;m going crazy!
also, with sipphone i tried resolving on a dekstop computer via a ping, but i had to replace ‘proxy01.sipphone.com’ with the actual ip address to get5 any response at all!
what am i doing wrong?
February 18, 2008 at 3:54 am
also, when i dial through the gizmo program it works fine nd the number comes up in my call history as:
“+1-8#6-3#8-4##7″
but the gizmo program’s call history of the touchmod program calls come up as:
“sip:018#63#84##7@198.65.166.131″
that ip is the address associated with proxy01.sipphone.com, by the way.
and i have to dial a zero first or lse it just hangs right up without dialing and erases the number.
February 19, 2008 at 3:05 am

Your settings do not work. I tried dialing a number, but the number instantly disappeared and the call button when back to call from hangup. I entered the exact settings with my primary YouFon number and password.

aross1,
You’re right, the providers are killing us. Here in Japan, I could get better connection with http://www.voipwise.com . It looks like they have free calls to some landlines in Japan, etc. THE BEST IS: when I type a number using this provider, the SIP-VoIP do not clean up the number before calling, it works 100% for all callings. This is the best provider working around here.
SIP-server: sip.voipwise.com
Reg-time: 5060 (I’m not sure, but works even blanck)
STUN-Server: stun.voipwise.com (this is optional)

Hello Everyone-
First- THANK YOU Touchmods! I feel like an addict- this is so much fun!
I have an Ipod Touch 16G- jailbroken to 1.1.3
i downloaded the sip voip v 1.1 an have successfully used various VOIP providers (all free with various mounts of minutes)-
but I have 1 issue that I am hoping someone can help with or recommend a good quality provider that I can test out:
1- the crackling sound hat i hear when calling anyone makes it soooo difficult to want to use as phone- but Your MIC rocks- people hear me crystal clear
Any thoughts?
oh- and any issues with settings not saving was fixe when I SSH’s into pod : )
Thanks a million-
Lisa

Hi guys,
great job. the mic arrived some days ago, but I didn’t had the time until now to install and test.
I created an account with freecall, bought some credit and here I go.
So, whatever settings I fill in, application freezes when I go back to dial. Already uninstalled and reinstalled, everytime need to fill it in again, and it freezes again. Also, I cannot fill the “STUN” part, since is not going there
Oh, of course rebooted “some” times…
Any hint?
February 20, 2008 at 9:50 pm
@Lisa: are you sure that you have fast enough connection? this things happens to us when the connection is overloaded, or when there is sthng running on the touch in the background. Pls tro to restart the machine and to go to a place where the WIFI is for sure fast enough. It should work
@Edoardo:
uhhh, do you have capital letters in your password? you should not!
does your keyborad capitalize things when entering automatically, it should not,
also, have you pls double checked that the machine can connect to sip.voiparound.com?
if not, pls visit the site FIRST from Safari on the Touch/Phone, and ONLY THEN try to use SIP-VoIP/Siphon,
also, pls read all the FAQ points above, most of tehm are useful. Good luck!!
February 20, 2008 at 10:24 pm
First, thanx for the quick response. Amazing
Second, you are totally right. If I ping from itouch or pc sip.voiparound.com or even http://www.freecall.com , request times out… the funny thing is that if I go to http://www.freecall.com with safari or pc (firefox), it opens normally.
So, application may freeze for this (strange it doesn’t go in timeout). Could it be my dsl provider who blocks sip access? Sounds strange (Alice dsl in germany). I will give it a try tomorrow from the office (irish network).
For the settings that are “lost” everytime, I will follow the suggestions in the comments and edit the file… (this is a must for next update).
If this will work in the office, I guarantee you at least other 3 new happy customers :))))
Thanx again for the support, I will let you know what happens.
February 20, 2008 at 11:45 pm
well- Thank you for your quick response-
-I sat next to my wi-fi router : )
-full bars on Ipod wi-fi icon
-no SSH running-
-restarted Ipod and dialed-
: ( crackle crackle
I am not a quitter- I will keep trying- but if you or anyone else come up with another step- please let me know
Thanks a million!

Eduardo,
“I cannot fill the “STUN” part, since is not going there”
This is just a hint: to fill into the STUN section, the NAT must be set up as YES. Otherewise, you can not edit the STUN sections
February 21, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Hi all,
thanx for the help.
From the wifi in the office (it is a strange network, leading to ireland), I can connect, ping, and everything. Still, when I try to make a call, after some waiting, the number disappears and the call is dropped (actually, never happened to be active..).
I start to belive that is a problem of many providers blocking sip access or calls (we are using voip in the office from the same provider). Is there maybe a proxy to be used? All the wifi spots that I was planning to use (home, office, friends, pubs) are of local (german) providers…. Anybody else with the same issue?
February 22, 2008 at 5:48 am
Does anyone know a free U.S calling server,,freecall says its U.S unlimited free,, but now it says I’ve reached my calling limit,,any links?
February 25, 2008 at 11:33 am

I am looking for voipbusterpro settings… anyone can help please? thanks a lot
I already tried all settings here and cannot make it works…
maybe an stupid question: do I need to restart my iPhone after change the settings?
March 2, 2008 at 11:51 pm
me again! trying everything to make it works with voipbusterpro and even voipbuster, same company, different products. Following the software configuration from voipbusterpro webpage, they say to configure using these settings:
SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.voipbusterpro.com
Proxy server : sip.voipbusterpro.com
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Account name : your VoipBuster Pro username
Password : your VoipBuster Pro password
Display name/number : your VoipBuster Pro username or voipnumber
Stunserver (option) : stun.voipbusterpro.com
I tried everything and also different values for Reg-time, 300, 1800, 3600, 5060, nothing…….
any help please!

March 3, 2008 at 12:54 am

March 3, 2008 at 2:25 am
Siphon v1.2
I’m using VoipBuster, but I got this Error “Connection error Verify your account parameters”
How can I fix that?
I’m runing the VoipBuster as the same time on my laptop is popup “You have logged in to VoipBuster on another computer”
That’s mean my account is ok.
Thanks.
March 3, 2008 at 6:48 pm
hey, really nice work there! However, I found that the 1.1 version not able to save for some reason. I’m using a 1.1.3 jailed iphone.
Thanks!
March 3, 2008 at 11:15 pm
@Tom: the settings do not work under OS 1.1.3
pls check our post on 1.1.3 ussues, posted back in February.
@viewVista: strange! maybe something is not well checked in our app?
Let’s see the community being active..
we wil take a look or it, but you know what? the Code is now available for everyone under the “Code” link on hte right side of the page
@Acuma: it may be really a OS113 and SIP v 1.1 issue. Do you have a chance to test the same settings on another OS1.1.2 or OS 1.1 machine (maybe from some friends?)
March 5, 2008 at 8:55 pm
we really need some help from the community, this is a great software but, unfortunately, it’s not working properly, it’s full of bugs and absolutely no support…. maybe it’s better to move on and forget about it…
March 6, 2008 at 3:18 am
Okay, just ordered the mic, successfully tested outgoing call to my landline. Awesome!! Thank you TouchMods!
How do I make it so people can call my iPod Touch though? (or is that still in the works for a near-future release?) Or does that depend on which SIP Provider I choose? (I’m finding a lot of them want you to d/l their “phone software” for the computer and thus they’re “call in” numbers they sell are configured through their software).
Or am I stuck on that one? Thanks to anybody who can help.
Richiro

March 16, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Voip wise works for free, no crediting your account or anything stupid like that! I love voipwise!!
March 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm
I’m using Sipgate.co.uk on 1.1.4 and the quality of the call on the iPod end is terrible where as on the other end it’s fine.
Also as others have said the bug where the settings are not saved makes this app pretty useless
Another thing - does this only make outgoing calls? I called my VoIP number and nothing happened on the iPod.
March 20, 2008 at 12:38 am
none of them are totally free you have to credit your account to use it, can touchmods make one that they provide that is totally free?
March 21, 2008 at 12:01 am
Hi
Dumb question, is Engin able to use this, I dont quite know what SIP Voip is, I would like to use it with my current Engin Voip Setup if possible…
Any help is appriciated
March 21, 2008 at 12:21 am
voipwise is free … for the trial period and trial calls… i dont see how u can avoid crediting your account to keep using it?

voicenetwork.ca
Username: peerID

Sip Server: dld.voicenetwork.ca
Reg Timeout: 10000
Enable NAT?: yes / no (configurable at provider so depends on your network)
STUN Domain:
STUN Server: stun.voicenetwork.ca
great service, instant DID and asterisk support and more!
send and receive calls works nicely, sometimes jittery, but mostly from my end I think…
March 22, 2008 at 10:04 am
Does any1 know which 1 of those sip servers has an inbound number? thanks =D
March 22, 2008 at 10:52 am
Sipgate.co.uk STIL not working, do i have to put .de as sip server even though i am using .co.uk ??
March 22, 2008 at 3:16 pm
So who has a working sipgate.de config with the new 1.2 version?
Thx
Oh and I’m really impressed by this modding community. Really worth a donation.
March 22, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Hi,
Just installed sip-voip 1.2 hoping that proxy server support had been added. Unfortunately not so it’s still impossible for me to use this app. Many people have posted settings that work for them but I believe that most users in the UK can’t connect without being able to add a proxy server to the sip-voip config.
Does anyone have a setup that works for them within the UK?
Cheers
Andy
March 22, 2008 at 7:18 pm
What’s the problem?
March 22, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Vonage settings (you must have a Softphone account — your username and password are on the Features / Manage Softphone page)
Username: {your softphone phone number with country code, e.g. 44203xxxxxxxx}
Password: {assigned by Vonage}
SIP-Server: sphone.vopr.vonage.net
Reg. Timeout: 3600
Enable NAT: No
STUN Domain / STUN Server: {leave blank}
Happy calling.

Hi… again =P i was just wondering can you guys -touch mods- please create a provider that is free, because so far all the sip servers i have signed up for, you have to pay for it… whether it’s after a certain time or from the beginning. So Can you guys create 1 that will work, has an inbound number and is free??? i mean you guys are Brilliant Geniuses!!! so i figured that maybe you guys could create 1 better then the rest! =P but anyway can you please answer back A.S.A.P., Thanks for taking the time to read this comment and the other 1’s =P

March 23, 2008 at 7:50 pm
i have FWD or freeworlddialup as my sip provider and i have been playing around with the sip settings for quite a while (you guys should be thanking me) i found the right settings for it (finally)
Username: YOUR SIP NUMBER (that the site provided when you registered)
Password: YOUR PASSWORD (for the site)
SIP-Server: i used “fwd.pulver.com” but that is from IPKall so it might not work try sip.fwd.com
Reg. Timeout: 1800
Enable NAT?: of course not!
hope this answers your questions about FWD!
March 24, 2008 at 3:16 am
Demon Hunter thanx so much! ur the man! and just so i understand FWD correctly i can only contact other FWD users? Ive had a freecall account etc and thought id play around with this.

Too bad … same here, connection error with poivy.com.
The last touchmod release (1.1?) was runing perfectly with the exception of not getting the settings saved with FW 1.1.4.
Looks like a serious bug?
March 24, 2008 at 6:47 pm
I loaded version 1.2 works great except for low sound volume. I have been using freecall.com.
Which provider works the best for USA.
Thanks to the touchmod team

March 25, 2008 at 1:49 am
Could someone please tell me the sip settings for voipraider
March 25, 2008 at 4:48 pm
@Stef - I am having the same problem as you with vyke.com, did you solve your problem?
@fabian - you have vyke working, are there any special settings, configuration, dialing patterns?
I have set the sip server as sip.vyke.com and nat 1800. When I dial a Canadian number I am dialing 001 then 10 digit number, this dialing pattern worked for me with freecall.com.

sipgate.de
stun.sipgate.net;10000
iPod Touch, 32 GB, 1.1.4, SIP-VoIP 1.2, touchmod Microphone
I’ve now changed my settings for the sipgate.de access and loaded my accout with 20 Euro.
I can dial out and succesfully place calls. The sound is sometimes choppy and low. So I quit SIP-VoIP, unplug and replug the ear phone and change to Music in order to adjust the volume while runnung SIP-VoIP again.
I cannot receive calls because sipgate.de states, that my device status is offline (Einstellungen -> SIP-Accountdaten -> Status). I’ve disabled the NAT but still no success. So I proved my router settings and found them okay because I can be called on my iBook within the same WLAN on the sipgate.de account…
Maybe the registration or publish process fails because I see some error alerts in the logfile…
So I’ll wait for the next SIP-VoIP

HEY ALL!! sooooo i was browsing and found this site….. http://www.mysipswitch.com/ the server is sip.mysipswitch.com…
I think this might be our future answer for very low cost calling. I haven’t got it to work yet.. but basically you set up a dial plan through them enabling you to switch between two sip account through one sip server…. so you could use free call for outgoing and freedigits for incoming… If anybody can manage to setup and configure the dialplan so that our ipods can connect this would be amazing.. all our incoming could come from one sip provider.. anda ll our outgoing could come from another… without having to edit or configure our sip-voip settings.
Come on guys! i know theres gotta be a way for this to work!
Im currently trying to set the dialplan up for free call outgoing.. and freedigits incoming. no connection success YET!

I put 1.2. on my iphone and started to test it. then out of the blue I could no longer hear a normal sim phone call out of my ear piece speaker on the phone, not only could I not hear a phone call, if I played my iTunes without my ear buds in just using the speaker at the bottom of the phone there was no sound or if a phone call came in there was no ringing, no text tone nothing could be heard. I put my ear buds that came with the phone in the jack and I could hear everything. My phone was rendered useless without the ear buds.
I tried to do a reset through iTunes by clicking on the reset button this did not work. I had to have ITunes open then hold the home button and the on off button on the phone until the screen went black then release the on off button and continue to hold the home button until iTunes said it found a phone in recovery mode then I told iTunes to restore it after some time it came up and everything was working fine. But my phone was locked once again so I used ziphone to unlock it.
I would like to have some response from the developer of touchmod to see if they have had anything like this happen.

April 3, 2008 at 6:51 pm
hi there. well, I am trying to connect to sipgate.de. it seems to work but not at once. it needs several minutes to connect. sometimes not and the touch freezes.
I am behind a fritz!box 7050 - is this the problem?
my stationary phones use voip too, maybe this could cause the problem. if you have any ideas where the problem might be found, please feel free to post.
thanxx

I just recieved the microphone today. I have tested it and it works beautifully. I have a 16GB Touch(1.1.4) that I am happy to have so many additional features on. I am just about to try setting up a voice over IP account. I don’t mind paying some money as I will use this in place of a phone if it is functional enough. Does anyone have any recommendations for a US resident to have both incoming and outgoing call functionality at a reasonable price? I have seen some settings here for Vonage which Is the only name I recognized right away. Does anyone have this working? Also, a simple free outgoing only connection would be cool for testing but I get the impression that a commitment is required. Thanks for everything you do!
April 5, 2008 at 10:45 am
@Tom@Munich - sipgate v1.2 worked on my iPod Touch (Firmware 1.1.4) within the last days. I’ve only had to replace the SIP-Server: sipgate.de by 217.10.79.9.
(see my post above)
Today I get connection errors while trying to connect to sipgate. I didn’t change my settings, so something else may be wrong with the sipgate access from SIP-VoiP 1.2. But it works, when I install the previous SIP-VoIP v1.1
I can still connect to freecall.com with SIP-VoIP v1.2 without any problems.
April 5, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I could REALLY use some help please. I am using sipphone (gizmoproject) on a 1.1.4 ipod touch. I chose this one because it was easy to get a US inbound number. I am able to connect fine in SIP-VoIP, but the audio is all garbled and my calls aren’t going through. I was able to connect with voipcheap.com and make calls fine.
I noticed that some others had problems with sipphone. Could someone please, please help me get this working? I am not sure how to ping from my mac as some have suggested. Thanks in advance.
April 5, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Sorry about the multiple posts but I have a relevant update. I can now dial out to a land line and have it ring, and I can use my land line to call in and it rings through on my touch.
The problem is the audio. All I am getting are garbled electronic noises. It sounds like a bad electronica remix. Anybody have a solution, or any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi i am having a problem with the SIP-VOIP app, it installs great, no problems there, however i keep getting “connection errors” whilst trying to connect to the sip server.
I am running 1.1.3, Sip-VOIP v1.2, using Freecall as the provider. Im not entirely sure if it might be my router which is the crap BT Home Hub..

I got mine working with Broadvoice. I have not ordered the mic yet, but will today. I tested by making calls from/to my iPod Touch. I could hear the room sounds from the other phones in the tests. There seems to be some lag so I am interested in seeing how a live conversation will go. I am planning on taking my iPod with me to an upcoming trip to Europe and then to India so I hope the voice quality will be good enough over those distances and multiple networks. (I am from the US)
I will also test this out with my Cisco CallManager Express and Communications Manager 6.1 to see if it is interoperable with them too.
Thank you again for all of your time and energy on this project! I hope someone purchases your company and the momentum continues to grow.

ok.. this will not work if you are bt customer with the broadband talk option. this is because the BT home Hub is in essence a sip machine, and uses bt’s own sip server to make your calls throught BBTalk (sip.btsip.bt.net)
I have tried to connect to the BT sip server with my ipod touch but no luck(using the bt talk number and sip settings…). I am about to disable bt talk to see if this will resolve the problem and will let ya’ll now.

Hi,
I received the Mic in the mail and tried it out:
Before I had the Mic and was just testing to see if SIP server would come up and if I could hear sound on iPod, it all worked (minus the Mic).
Now with the Mic attached I can still make a connection to SIP provider and the Mic sound comes through great, BUT I can not hear the other side. It is strange garbled sound. I tried multiple times over a couple of days.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
–my provider, iPod SW, and settings can be found in my previous post–

I’m having the same problem since plugging in the mic. Sound was fine before. I’m using voipcheap.com and using the reccomended settings.
Any thoughts?
I’m using 1.1.4 on my Touch and the latest version of your sip software.

—connection error. always!
may be someone can write me exact what I have to type in in the setting, for
sip-server, reg. timeout, enable NAT or not, stun domain and stun server.
please, you can make my day!
thanks in advance

Has anybody a solution for the “1und1.de” connection error?
April 29, 2008 at 7:47 pm
@Gigi
unfortunately not.
I’ve posted a part of the error log for an 1und1.de connection (see http://touchmods.wordpress.com/sip-settings/#comment-3903 ) so the developers of SIP-VoIP might get a hint for their next version.
And Caveman stated (see http://touchmods.wordpress.com/2008/03/21/sip-voip-v12-is-out/#comment-4221 ) that there is an error in SIP-VoIP 1.2…

@Louis: Michael had the same question in his mail. Let me CC the answer here:
“we are aware of the point you are speaking about.
The thing is that the codec we recently use needs
higher amount of data for speech communication then
other codecs, which in turn, request higher CPU power.
Since the recenta status of our VoIP App is, that when
the Mic is activated, the CPU usage jumps close to
100%, we can NOT recently use another codec.
Once we figure out why the CPU usage raises so high
when the low-level audio is activated to read the mic
input, we will lower the CPU usage, and also we WILL
switch to another Codec, which is NOT so choppy.
Please remember, we are one of the very-very few
teams, who roughly know how to use low-level audio.
All Voice based apps like VNotes, Nikotalkie, etc
use the audio in a different, much simpler way, as
they do not need full duplex mode (mic and headset
active at the same time).
Pls understand that if there will be more info shared
on the net about this low-level audio issue, we will
IMMEDIATELY fix it in our app.
Thanks for your understanding.
Regards,
Marian
