Previous SIP-VoIP Releases
This page will host the previous releases of the Touchmods SIP-VoIP app for the iPod Touch.
v.1.0 from Jan. 1, 2008
v.1.1 from Jan. 20, 2008
v.1.2 from Mar. 21, 2008 is the current Version.
It is best available via our repository and the Installer.
Installation Instructions:
If you have a new version on your Touch, first please completely uninstall it and remove the Touchmods rep.xml. from the installer. Then download the zip file from the links above, unpack it, and copy manually into the /Applications folder of the Touch by using scp (secure copy), Cyberduck or other app. Finally, to make the logo of the newly installed app appear, you will need to restart Springboard on The touch. You can do it in many ways:
a) by rebooting the iPod
b) by going to Springboard-prefs, scrolling down and klicking “restart springboard”
c) by installing or uninstall any application with the installer
d) if you have Erica’s utilities installed and you like the command-line:by invoking restart in the terminal (or over ssh): first run “find / -print | grep restart” in the terminal of the touch (or over ssh), then cd to the dir where it is and “./restart”). The restart routine is from Erica’s utilities, we guess and lets’ the icon of the manually installed app appear on SpriongBoard.
For any further questions pls check the FAQ page we prepared for you. It should answer most of your questions. If you can not find the answer to your question, pls feel free to put it as a new comment on that FAQ page. We are buildinng that FAQ page for you!
Thank you,

March 14, 2008 at 1:49 am
@marc: there are 25 providers listed on the right side ot touchmods.net
just do some research and check thier offers, see which fits you the best.
@tadeok: source: http://touchmods.net/rep.xml
the “/Applications” folder is on your Touch, pls search some Tutorials on how to ssh or scp to your Touch over Wifi. Or, just post a question (after you searched already existing forums) on ipodtouchfans.com
Why nobody (from our 6k readers day) answered this to you since a month?

March 21, 2008 at 9:04 pm
I did the whole thing where you put Sip Voip 1.0 on the touch with cute ftp
but when I start it up it just displays the opening screen and then does not do anything after that. What did I do wrong?
March 22, 2008 at 8:40 pm
@Ivriss: you definitely need to try it with the headset, but we can not promise anything.
regarding iPhone-based SIP, you will need to ask Samuel, as he is the one who promised to take care of it back in 27.2.2008.
@matt: you put the app into the /Application folder,
then you restart the Springboard from a terminal (or over SSH) by typing “killall Springoabrd”. ok, then pls re-check the SIP settings, and ping also the SIP server from Safarin in case your thing does not work. Pls check the FAQ page, link on the right side.

Hi I would like to make the Coders an offer.
If this is all right with Marian and all involved at Touchmods.com.
I will pay $400.00 USD the coder or coders to make Touchmods.com software work on the IPhone using the IPhone internal mic and the earpiece no add on hardware. (This must be accomplished by April 15 2008 or sooner.)
Touchmods.com. has my personal email attached to this entry.
Today’s date is. March 31 2008

This for everyone that is installing the SIP-VoIP Applications manually thru SSH in to your iPhone or iPod touch using Cute FTP Pro or any other FTP Software. Whenever you manually install an application or skins or anything for that matter, you must always highlight every file you have installed manually and right click on the file and scroll down to properties. In properties you must alway change the write access from 644 to 755. Otherwise the applications will continue to crash every time you open them. Just keep this in mind next time you install anything manually.
Thanks,
iPod touch Locksmith

April 11, 2008 at 4:39 am
Hi mates, just wanted to ask, if I need your mic to run the program on a iPhone? If yes, send me your details so that I can order the stuff
Keep on going and congrats for this great work!

@Johannes:
hello, the recent iPhone version of our SW runs only with the white headset (headphones with the mic on the cable). However, since it is doable to record on the iPhone with an add-on Microphone, we do plan to have a future version of Siphon with such Touchmods Mic support. Again, the recent Siphon version does not support it, but is doable!
Regarding ordering a Mic, just pls reload our page (http://touchmods.wordpress.com/), and click on the yellow “order a mic” sign.
@drew: you need to heve the headphones plugged in, as the recent version of the SW does NOT support the built-in piezo speaker of the Touch.
@burham: NO. our two app, Siphon is meant for the iPhone, SIP-VoIP for the Touch. Reason: these two devices have the SAME operation system, and very similar HW.
@max: pls follow the instructions “on sip.free.fr”. We are not hosting Siphon (the iPhone version of SIP-VoOP) but plan to do so later on.
@Roger: 4 more days to go

I have my *OWN* asterisk server. Your software, which seems to be locked into either a specific provider or set of providers, is useless. I dont need to sign up for a new account.
What would be really useful is if someone were to release a fully open SIP client for iphone that could be configured to use any SIP server of ones choice. Until then, its all crap.
May 5, 2008 at 9:38 pm
From what I’ve read, the iPhone version of SIP-VoiP is Siphone which seems to require the use of freephonie.net, not a option.
I kind of have one call go through with Touchmod V1.2, now everytime I try the screen of the iPhone locks up..
Any ideas how to get Touchmod working on iPhone>
