Hello!
Reluttr just sent us his design of a new game controller:

Acc. to the image the controller hosts the iPod Touch in a landscape mode.
Further, he writes:
“In theory it should work, because there are ipod remotes that do fully
work on the touch, and a game pad is technically a remote, just in a
more comfortable game friendly layout. I believe this would be a hit,
especially if zodttd integrated it to work with his emulators. Developing
something like this would be groundbreaking and would promote more
gaming on the touch/phone. For instance Doom, quake, and other games could
be modded to work with it thus making a more gamer friendly
environment.
I know there is other things people may be wanting like a external
camera to be put on the dock, or even a w-sim adaptor. But I believe the
gamepad is the most needed/wanted and possibly the easiest to achieve. I
think this would also help further expand you knowledge of the dock
and its potential.
Anyways I figured if anyone could make something like this real it
would be you guys, since you most likely know more about the limits of the
iphone/touchs dock than anyone else.
First of all, big thanks, Reluttr for sharing the idea with us. We just created a separate session for this topic on our Wiki here. Everybody, plese share your opinion/ideas with others to speed up the development of such an add-on. In case you have a little time and some useful info related to the topic share the info below on the Comments session or on the Wiki. As said: the Wiki is out there for you! .. and gaming is fun
Happy Hacking!

hello friends,
at the moment we are building up a brainpool for applications which could be useful, cool or funny.
here is a start:
- BALLOON - blow into the mic to blow up virtual balloons. make a contest who pops the balloon the fastest way.
- GLIDER - a game where a glider flyes through a tunnel which has spikes on top and bottom. move the glider up by blowing into the mic. move him down by not blowing.
- DTMF DECODER - decode dtmf sounds with your ipod/iphone. you often hear this sounds in movies or somewhere else. with this app, you can find out which number was dialed or which message was sent.
- VISUAL AUDIO ALARM - a app mainly for deaf ppl. select a volume preset. if there is a sound louder then this preset. the display will flash.
- VOICE RECORDER/REMINDER/DICTAPHONE - talk your messages or letters on the road into your ipod/iphone. then have the mp3 stored locally on the device, or select a email to send the mp3 over wifi or gsm. you could send it to your webblog or your secretary. your letter will be typed, printed and ready for you to sign when you enter the office.
- BAD DAY - blow in the mic to move rain clouds away from the screen. the little computer ppl in this game dont like it to get wet. (thanks mason)
- KARAOKE - a singstar/taptap clone/mix. (thanks Gianni)
- SING TRAINER / iCapella - load your notelines (midi) and practice them singing at perfect timing and pitch. see the “wrong” notes and work on them to be a better singer. (thanks JLA)
- FLUTE/TRUMPET - blow into the mic and press buttons to make noises. (thanks Daniel)
- METRONOM - use the ipod builtin klick-speaker as a metronom klicker.
- CLAPPER - a power saving daemon who switches off the screen (thanks deltaspecops) (the power consumption of the daemon may be bigger than the power saving)
- VOICE (UN)LOCK - unlock or lock your ipod with your voice (thanks Conner)
- VOICE LAUNCHER - a app launcher daemon. say what you want, and the app starts. (we need a star-trek skin for this. ;-))
- BPM METER - play any music, and the ipod tells you the bpm of it. (thanks Zoega)
- VOICE CODER - encrypt your telephone conversation. (thanks cyclonefr)
- (please tell us YOUR ideas, how we could make your mic even more valuable)
Thank You!

… and be part of making History!!!
Mobile VoIP communication is just coming. We are at the very-very beginning with our SIP-VoIP and Siphon applications for iPhone and the iPod Touch. And you, dear believer, you are the one who makes the whole thing happen!!! Right now.
The Touchmods Team would like to thank you in believing in SIP and in believing in our projects! Thank you for being with us! In case you still do not have a Mic, it is time to build or to get one.
The May Edition of the MACup magazine clearly shows how important this movement is. There is no way back from VoIP in your Pocket. There is only way forwards. So, as said: be part of the history. Be with us!!
Thank you!

Let’s assume you are coming to this site because of the iPhone version and you do not care too much about the SIP-VoIP App we have for you and which runs flawlessly* on the iPod Touch. Let’s also assume that you are a little lazy. We do not mean to be lazy to code a little and to win a Touchmods Mic, but simply lazy….
..and this laziness also does not really take the iPhone headset** with you, meaning that you can NOT really just take out your iPhone and use with the free SIP-VoIP service. So, we thought how about trying the Touch SIP-VoIP version on a OS 1.2 iPhone?
Yess, but we at Touchmods have no OS1.2 iPhones***.
Ok, how about some of you who are not too lazy, and having an OS1.2 iPhone… how about trying the SIP-VoIP App on the Phone. Why? Simply because we believe that it will use the internal Mic of the iPhone with the internal Headset. In other words because you can stay lazy, and still use SIP-VoIP on your iPhone.
Or is not it the reason why you checked the site today?
Sorry, we forgot you are lazy
Cheeers,
Your Touchmods Team
(eok, marian, samuel)

**Siphon, the iPhone version of SIP-VoIP works only with the white iPhone headset attached to the iPhone
*** pls do not come again with the “kids can not afford things” speech, otherwise we show you some photos of the 90kEu Analysers we work with!!

Hi guys,
we are sure you know that our activity does not end with the SIP-VoIP App. Today we were just doing some Serial port measurements. The interesting thing is that while sending a “char” to the port from a C-code works quite reliably,

the “echo e > /dev/tty.iap” command from the terminal (where “e” could be any character) sends only mess. Not really mess, as there are 2-3 bits sent, the first one with a width of 104microsec, corresponding to 9600bps, but the rest is random and not really carrying any information.

If any of you knows why this is so, it would be nice if you could share the info here. The importance of this info is quite high, as the serial port is the key to many-many future hardware hacks.
Note: the experiments were made on a OS 112 and OS 113 touch, both giving the same hard-to understand result.

Ok, one of our crazy reader just sent the following tutorial. You try it, boys, and give a feedback. Remember: no feedback = no more tutorials!!
Here We Go:
- Go to freedigits.com and click “Sign Up” in the upper right corner
- Register your information
- Confirm account via E-Mail
- It will give you another email containing your phone number and password
- Get your iPod Touch and open the settings tab in SIP-VoIP
- Enter the following settings:
- Username: (enter 10-digit phone number) ex: 5555555555
- Password: (your Free Digits Password) ex: freephone
- Sip-Server: Freedigits.net (the website for sign up is .com, registrar is .net)
- Timeout: 500
Leave the rest blank
YOUR DONE! Only problem is that you cant make out-going calls with free digits!! L here’s how I do mine:
- Go to http://www.voipbuster.com/en/freetrialcall.php on your Touch
- In the “Your Number” box put + and the your 11 digit number (+15555555555)
- In “Destination” type in the number you wanna call (+18001230987)
- Make sure Sip-VoIP is connected and minimized to say “ON”
- Your ipod will now be called.
- Exit out of safari and pick up the call.
- When you pick up the call in SIP-VoIP, it will then start calling the destination you want!
If it works, and you donate enough during the weekend, we’ll send a free Touchmods Mic to C0der_4_liFe, the author of this tutorial!
THANK YOU ALL!
Your Touchmods Team
UPDATE: 28.3.2008 afternoon:

4. register an account there with this:
Choose your account type: Sip
Choose Area Code for your IPKall Number: Choose your favorite area code out of the bunch!
SIP Proxy: (ex. fwd.pulver.com): Put in your SIP-Server (for voipbuster its sip.voipbuster.com)
Email address and password have to be the same that you used with your VOIP account (no spoof emails here)
Seconds to ring you can just leave how it is
5. you should now get an E-Mail with your account information + Number
6. call your self from your home phone or cell! (make sure the number you call is 10 digit! EX: 3602349375 is correct but 13602349375 isn’t!!)

Hello.
In case you are not satisfied with the sound level on the Touch side when using SIP-VoIP, here is a simple trick how to boost the volume. This is not the ultimate solution, but at least helps to hear the other side of the conversation when calling from noisy environments.
Note: this solution and was only tested on OS112 and OS113 Pod Touch, and also boosts the volume level of the MP3 player and the Video Player!! So be careful when raising the volume
HowTo:
0. Check your OS version by clicking “Settings > General > About > Version”
1. go to Installer, click “Sources”, Click “Edit”, Click “Add”
2. enter “http://installer.iclarified.com”, click “OK, let the sources be refreshed
3. Go to the “Install” page, and choose “All Packages”
4. Scroll down until you see sthng like “Volume Boost (1.1.x)”, where x matches with your OS version from point 0.
5. Click Install
6. Exit Installer
7. Turn off your Touch by keping the Sleep button pressed for some seconds, then choosing “slide to power off”
8. Restart your Touch by holding the sleep button for some seconds
9. Connect to your WiFi network
10 start SIP-VoIP v1.2, check “settings”, then click “Dial”
11. Click “Connect”, wait until you are connected
12. dial a number (In Europe we start with 00)
13. check volume level by double-clicking “Home” button (the circular one)
14. Report the results to this page.
Thanks for the feedback and good luck!!!
