New Features on The Way
Ok, let us show you the look-and-feel of Siphon v.1.3:
The photo above demonstrates from left to right:
- new icon (classic phone made of headphones and the Touch itself )
- integrated SIP settings in the main Settings menĂ¼
- nice (and finally clear) input fields
- iPhone-like keyboard
- integrated Contacts
- tiny icon on the status bar showing SIP in background waiting for a call
Also, by clicking on the photo you will get a hires image (for your blog).
.. and just a test question: have you noticed the EDGE switch above ![]()

Great ! I really hope that the new siphon will be able to work with internal headset of the iphone.
The current version of siphon work with iphone internal mic, but the headset was not working, need to use external iphone headset and with very very low sound level from the left ear piece.
Can any one help with this sound level issue?
I configue to used with ” sip.pfingo.com” from starhub of Singapore, i can make international fixed line or mobile with No problem.
Thanks!!

@William Ng :
have you try the volume boost trick?
go to installer > iClarified >volume boost 1.1.x (x is your ipod version of course )
@UNITED:
i guess everyone is having the same problem, but the lag on my ipod is so obvious. watch some video in youtube, and their voice lag isnt that obvious.
anyone had problem with unclear voice? as in, the voice is a bit buggy? i had this problem, and the i solve it is by playing song while connecting to voip service, then call the person, once the other party answer the call, then i pause the song. If i dont do this, i cant hear the other party voice smoothly.
any of you have this kind of trouble?
April 22, 2008 at 12:54 am

@AZRAP, Thanks, I have installed Volume Boost (1.1.4) Version 1.0 in my iphone 1.1.4, when i use ipod program, Songs and Video, the sound level was very high and can be control by both sound level hard button and soft control, great!
But when i run Siphon, i must set sound level at ipod program with maximum, i can call and listen from left earphone (external), and sound level is low (constant level) and connot adjust via hard button.
So how to make Siphon with higher sound level, and perhaps the sound output can be directly from iphone internet headset instaed of external headset? can any one help ?
Thanks & best regards!

I have tried the SIP-VoIP v1.2 of touchmod on my ipod touch with the mic. I have a Voip account here in my city. I’m able to call phone BUT… When communication is established, I hear lots of “tick… tick…tick… tick…tick… tick…tick… tick…” sound in the background
This makes it hard to understand the other person (vise-versa). Any idea of what could produce that problem?
I will try to get more info on the server meanwhile.
I have set my iphone to be in the DMZ… but it had no effect.
Please advise / help.

So, right now i have siphon on my ipod touch 1.1.3, and its siphon v. 1.1. Amazingly the sound quality is never choppy. I use it for all call outs, sometimes the sip voip app is choppy on call outs. However, siphon doesn’t have a ringtone or “on,off’ capability. So I use sip voip for call ins to hear the ringtone and stuff. SO Im not saying siphon is better, i use both.
I want to know when siphon v.1.3 comes out, or is it already out? It has some very nice features that would be great to use.
BTW, I did the host hack to get siphon to use my sip account with freecall.
COuld someone let me know when this is coming out and how to get it, IVe heard people saying their contacts app got replaced after they installed 1.3 so Im wondering how people are getting it, I cant find it.
THanks Again, Touchmods

Has any Canadians found a provider that lets people be able to call you and they don’t have to pay like pkall. (Pkall is only free for US callers. BS!)

@ Ryan
How did you get siphon v.1.2. I have 1.1 and thats all i can find. Let me know what the difference is, if anything.
May 7, 2008 at 9:00 am
I have a feature question:
Are SIP domains and non standard SIP ports (different than 5060) supported? If not, are there any plans to support this in the future?
Thanks in advance,
Marius

@ Steveo,
delete the touchmods source and reinstall it again and the update should be there. However, at the time i wouldn’t recommend upgrading until the new version comes about because their seems to be a connection issue in v1.2 Otherwise not much of a difference great ideas work ill let you know if i find out what the bug is.

Hi,
I’ve tried sip-voip as well as siphone. Both are not able to connect to my sipgate.de account, I always get “connection error” messages.
I’ ve already tried to use the IP adresses instead of server names.
Can anybody help me?
I have an 1.1.4 iphone and the newest versions of both sip-voip and siphone.
